Vietnam artist known as "Dangodangoart" recently put his feelings and experiences into art form to share with the world and as we silently take in the illustrated story of her freshly adopted puppies, we can't seem to stop the soul-crushing sadness overtaking our hearts.

Alongside her brother and his girlfriend, the small family took in two puppies who needed a home to call their own, only to discover that due to no preventive veterinarian care, the puppies had a fatal disease. She writes:

Because of the lack of knowledge and money, the man who rescued the stray dogs didn’t bring them to the vet for vaccination which caused the whole pack (9 adult dog and 6 puppies) to be infected with the Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) – it’s fatal. An adult dog has a 60% chance to survive, but a young puppy has only 10%.

They gave us two puppies without knowing they were infected. Even though, we soon discovered the symptoms and brought them to the vet clinic… it was too late.

In Vietnam, we are lacking pet care, animal shelter and disease control protocols, many sick stray dogs are roaming the streets. We really hope to have better solutions for them, but right now Animal rescue is spontaneous and disorganized.

This comic is my prayer for my puppies.

In the beginning...

There was light, love, and humor.

From optimism to heartache.

You think, "it's okay if my puppies are naughty, they have time to learn."

Until they do not have time to learn.

The pain from Dangodangoart hits your chest like an oncoming train.

It happened so fast... ...and you were still too young to have the strength to fight back

Truly, the comic touched people who have read it.

In a few illustrated frames with simple captions, we felt the artist's pain.

We are all hopeful that this family gets another chance to rescue and love a pair of pups into adulthood.
