Winter isn’t just a time of bright, twinkling lights, hot cocoa, and holly-jolly goodness. There’s the creeping cold that seeps deep into your bones, dreary overcast grey days that get shorter with each passing day.

Maybe that’s why there are such fun and magical celebrations held during winter. To help drive away the eerie and unsettling feelings that come along with the season.

After all, the feelings of creepiness come from the overreaching theme of the unknown. The uncertainty of a place, person, or thing, and whether or not it could be dangerous to us is what causes those distressing feelings.

But for as uncomfortable as feeling creeped out can be, there’s something captivating about looking at creepy images. Creepy pictures can illicit unsettling feelings, but they can be hard to look away from.

And the internet has no shortage of weird or disturbing content. Take, for instance, the subreddit r/oddlyterrifying, a community dedicated to sharing, you guessed it, unusual and terrifying images.
