We always do our best to help our friends out when they're having a tough time. But, sometimes, boundaries can be crossed, and some friends can expect a bit too much from us.
Reddit user u/MaleficentBoot4718 recently shared a story in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit about one of her friends who did exactly that. The original poster explained that she has four rescue pigeons that have various health issues.
The Redditor takes care of the birds and keeps them in a designated room inside her house. The birds are toilet-trained and are allowed to roam around OP's house as they please.
Recently, OP's friend, Chantelle, was evicted from her home because she hadn't paid rent for a year. Chantelle has two children and another baby on the way.
The Reddit user hadn't seen Chantelle in quite some time when she knocked on her door, and they started chatting. Chantelle asked the OP if she could move into her house and said she would pay rent.
But the OP refused and explained that she doesn't have room in her house for her and her three kids. Chantelle immediately suggested that OP should get rid of the birds to make room for them.
Understandably, the OP said no, but Chantelle began to "freak out." She called the Redditor a "selfish a**hole," and the OP had to ask her to leave.
Later on, another friend told the OP that Chantelle was posting about her on Facebook. The Redditor went online to check and saw that Chantelle had indeed been talking about her.
Not only that, but all of Chantelle's friends joined in and were saying all sorts of nasty things about her. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

Reddit/Material-Profit5923What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP should have taken Chantelle in, or did she do the right thing by saying no?
Either way, it seems very unfair of Chantelle to expect the OP to abandon her animals for her. It's OP's home, after all, and the birds are her responsibility, unlike Chantelle!
