Many people perceive cats as emotionally cold and soulless animals, they like to paint them all with the same brush and never try to truly understand them. Cats usually seem unfriendly on the outside, they love their personal space and they need time to open up to people, which is totally understandable if you think about it.
Cats are usually viewed as emotionally cold and unaffectionate because they don't jump around all excited when you come home. However, they do have their own version of that, which takes longer and is mainly based on ignoring you while not ignoring you at the same time.
Reddit r/amaranthinelux recently broke off her engagement due to their partner's infidelity. Evidently, OP was quite broken down after that, but her cat made it all better and stuck by her side when she was in pain and crying her eyes out.
OP's story proves that cats can be very emotional and caring, the facade they put on is completely different from how they truly are on the inside. Many users decided to share some stories of their own involving cats being loving and caring, after reading OP's original post, and some of them will truly melt your heart.

RedditCat love is the sweetest kind of love out there!
RedditCats can feel when you don't like them or don't like cats in general.
RedditCats will give you the love you need and sometimes in ways you don't really think about
RedditThey can feel your stress and sadness and sometimes try to make you feel better.
RedditCats are wonderful pets and some people who consider themselves to be non-cat people really need to reconsider everything they know about them and try to give them a second chance. Cats can be as loving as dogs if not more loving in some cases and people really need to see that.
You can see in the stories above that people got immense help from their cats during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Cats can be wonderful loving pets but people misunderstand them most of the time and don't give them enough space, time, and patience.
