Alice van Kempen takes incredible photos of abandoned places using her furry friend as a model.
If you build a strong bond with your pet, then he becomes your best friend, as in this particular case, where the special connection between the owner and her dog can not go unnoticed. Alice van Kempen is the proud owner of a three-year-old Bull Terrier named Claire.
They travel together to discover ruined and abandoned places. So far, they have visited a few European countries with the intention to find perfect places for making some incredible photos.
They look for abandoned places like forgotten hospitals, churches, prisons, trains, planes, and even private houses to take unique photos. When Alice came up with this amazing idea, she decided to call it Furbex.
And you surely can guess who the model is - well, Claire, of course. She is the snow-white dog who likes posing, and she takes her role very seriously.
Looking at the photos, you feel like you are looking at the life of former residents. Her imitations are truly stunning.
Alice says that searching for the right place and moment can take some time, "Part of the process is to capture a piece of the soul of these places, Claire and I can spend quite some time just walking the rooms and sitting at specific spots to ‘catch’ the atmosphere." The more abandoned a place is, the more perfect it is for their impressive work.
And Claire just feels the soul of places and represents it very hilariously. You can see her admirable posing below.
"The walls, silent witnesses of love and friendship, of sorrow, hatred, and sometimes even murder. The way nature takes over these buildings, how ivy penetrates the interiors, where moss has replaced the carpets, where small trees start to grow indoors, shows that everything is perishable", says Alice.
Although dogs are capable of doing some things like humans, Claire has taken that ability to a whole new level. If you like these admirable photographs, you can see more of them on Alice's Instagram account or her website.
They also published a book recently called Furbex, with all their exploring adventures. They keep surprising us with incredible ideas and breathtaking photos, and Claire is a fascinating poser.
