Anne Hathaway's Transformation For The Long-Awaited "The Witches" Remake Is Every Bit As Terrifying As You Hoped It Would Be

If there's one positive to come out of the current global pandemic, it's that being stuck at home has meant we have had more time to catch up on all the movies and series' we wouldn't usually have time to watch. Silver linings, right?

And, even though the film industry (like everyone else) has been limited to how much work they can do throughout the coronavirus crisis, they haven't been entirely dormant. In fact, there are some pretty exciting new movies on the horizon, including the long-awaited remake of The Witches.

The remake of the beloved film stars none other than the incredible Anne Hathaway. And the usually stunning actress underwent quite a grizzly makeover as she was transformed into a witch.

Before the film's release on October 22nd, Hathaway shared a short teaser trailer for the movie on her Instagram. In the clip, Anne and her castmates, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, and Jahzir Bruno (all in costume, of course), explained what real witches look like - they have claws, no toes, large nostrils, and no hair - they always wear wigs.

Anne introduced the trailer by saying, "Here's the thing you need to know about witches: they're real, they're here, and they live amongst us."

Perhaps the most notable part of the trailer is how different Hathaway looks for her role as the Grand High Witch.

Not only is she completely bald, but she is covered in gruesome scars.

More specifically, she has large slits on either side of her lips, creating a creepily wide smile.

The Witches is a remake of the iconic film of the same name released in 1990.

It was directed by Nicolas Roeg and starred Angelica Huston, Rowan Atkinson, Mai Zetterling, Bill Paterson, and many others.

Based on the 1983 book by Roald Dahl, also of the same name, the new version will re-tell the scary yet funny tale of a young boy who is turned into a mouse by some mean real-life witches.

It was released on October 22nd, just in time for Halloween.
