This story was posted on Reddit to the "malicious compliance" subreddit by user Public_Pressure_4516 who decided to share her story of compliance. This teacher was in a poor financial situation after her husband lost his job so she had to get a job to make ends meet.

She had to leave her job as a part-time teacher so her family could have health insurance. She managed to get a job as a teller at a bank but the job would bring issues of its own.

Like every beginner, she made some minor mistakes now and then but it was rarely a large issue. The real problem was her supervisor, Mel, who didn't hesitate to remind her that she could get fired at any moment.

This was extremely stressful for the teacher because her whole family would lose their health insurance if she got fired. Eventually, her husband got a new job, and when Mel finally pushed it too far, the teacher didn't hesitate to shut her up and leave that terrible workplace forever.

The people of Reddit showed plenty of support for the teacher and even shared some similar experiences with bad managers. We can only imagine how good it felt to leave such a terrible job and finally be free.

Companies often just care about profit, and if they're making a lot of money they don't care about the working conditions.

It takes an evil person to take everything out on someone just because you can. Stay humble.

Quitting a job on the spot must be so much sweeter than having to work 2 weeks even though you quit.

Taking advantage of the fact that people need the job to survive. You can't tell me a good person does this.

I wonder why these managers think it's some motivation to say stuff like that. Especially when you know people need the job to survive.

This comment just made this story even worse. Imagine keeping someone around just take out your own frustrations on the poor person who has no choice but to listen to you.

Reading some of these comments and seeing how many people are forced to put up with such terrible people is making my skin crawl. I just can't understand what makes managers act like that for no reason.

I guess having even a little power can change people completely. Not all managers are like this, of course, but there are thousands of stories just like this one, and that's just sad.

This is what happens when companies care more about profit than humans.
