This Family Celebrated Having No More Kids In The Most Hilarious Way When Dad Got His Vasectomy

Kimberly Hemperly and her devoted husband are the proud parents of two beautiful children. A four-year-old little girl and a 5 month-old baby boy! Recently they faced a tough decision but when they realized their family was complete and whole as they wanted it to be they needed to find the right way to keep it that way.

Families and couples face this decision every day, all over the world. When it comes to permanent measures to preventing pregnancy with medical sterilization procedures. Women can have a tubal ligation (also known as getting their tubes tied in which the fallopian tubes are cut or blocked.) Women can sometimes also have a hysterectomy (a surgery in which the uterus is removed entirely and sometimes they also remove the cervix, ovaries, and/or fallopian tubes.)

Though an optional (non-medically necessary) hysterectomy is much less common and most women go for the simpler procedure of a tubal. And for men, they have the option of a vasectomy.

A vasectomy is a procedure in which the small tubes in the scrotum that carry sperm are cut or blocked off, so sperm can't leave the body. By comparison, vasectomies are the simpler procedure of these three options yet it manages to be quite the hot topic!

Despite the social stigmas that surround permanently preventing pregnancy, a lot of families today opt for this simple procedure. For the Hemperly family, this procedure was the perfect fit and Kimberley, appreciating her supportive and loving husband, wanted to show him he was special and to celebrate the big day. She told Postize:

I just wanted to make him feel special. I had a rough recovery with my last section, so he wanted to go under the knife this time so I wouldn’t have to.

But having a party isn't why we're talking about it today, it's her absolutely hilarious post on Facebook.Kimberly Hemperly
Time to retire the SWIM TEAM!Facebook
Gift basket snacks for the momentous occasion included "Ding-Dongs," a rubber glove full of frozen peas, "Tender Meat" (beef jerkey,) and bananas. The whole gift basket was filled with puns to make light of the procedure.Kimberly Hemperly
By far, one of the best parts was the cake! With a tombstone and frosting-sperm it was perfectly topped with bright red letters: SNIP SNAP.Kimberly Hemperly
And no vasectomy party would be complete without a nice bowl of sausage and meatballs, right?Kimberly Hemperly
And the t-shirts were the final touch!Kimberly Hemperly

The entire post was a fun-filled riot to read, 100% in good spirit. We asked Kimberly if she took the cake request to a bakery (because not only is it hysterical but it's really well-done!)

Oh no, I’ve got a local friend who made it for us lol. Thank the lord. Couldn’t imagine taking that idea to a bakery

Deciding to opt for this procedure was something the married couple chose together.Kimberly told us here at Postize that her husband was very supportive and eager to make this decision for their family after watching his wife recover from a cesarean birth:

We don’t have it all figured out by any means. That’s why we’re stopping at two! My husband is so supportive, compassionate, and caring. That’s why he’s having this done.

But when her post went viral, shared over 20,000 times on Facebook, some people seemed to think that this was a one-sided decision:

He basically volunteered so I wouldn’t have to go back under the knife. I’m still recovering from the c-section I had with my son and still having a lot of pain. So for him to be so selfless, it’s pretty amazing.

Some of the things people said to Kimberly included calling her selfish and asking her why she didn't get a procedure done and that's really unfortunate. It's so easy to assume that because of the public nature of the post that this decision was one-sided but the truth is that everyone in this family is very happy. They also definitely did not expect their funny little celebration to go viral! Despite a few naysayers here and there for the most part, Facebook users have found their celebration absolutely hysterical. It's gained over 51k likes from people all over the world and has been shared (so far) nearly 40k times! We asked Kimberly if she thought this many people would find their party so funny.

Kimberly said:

Oh my gosh not at all lol. We had no idea people would think it was funny as we thought it was.

And thankfully, he also hasn't had to read all the mean-spirited comments, either:

He’s not on social media so hasn’t really seen all the comments, thankfully. There are some real mean spirited folks that need Jesus out there!

The future looks good for this lovely family of four and we all certainly got a kick out laughing at their celebration. We asked Kimberly if she had any advice for other parents contemplating this decision and she gave some really good advice:

I guess if I were to have any “advice” I’d say to make sure it’s what both of you want. Nobody is forcing anything here despite what people are saying on our post lol. And it always helps to have a great husband!
