It's not always easy to find the perfect pet. For many potential owners, it's a long process that can seem overwhelming at times.

You have to do your research, visit animal shelters and meet with people who are already raising pets. You have to go through the sometimes scary and usually lengthy adoption process, which can be even more difficult if you are adopting a pet with special needs.

Luckily, there are people out there who know how to handle these animals and would even go as far as becoming their foster parents. The video below is a prime example of such an act.

There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing a previously unwanted creature find the unconditional love that has been missing its entire life, and best of all, in an unexpected manner. Shelters can be frightening places for animals, making it difficult for them to adapt.

They become depressed in their kennels, which makes it even more challenging for them to be adopted. To say that Sherman had difficulty adapting to life in the shelter would be an understatement.

He was in such a state of fear and anxiety that he stopped eating. This was one dog that nobody wanted to adopt, but the shelter workers understood they had to find a solution.

In order to get him out of the shelter, they sought the help of Michelle, a volunteer for the shelter. She happily agreed to temporarily take Sherman into her care to ease his anxiety while they find a permanent place for him.

However, It never occurred to Michelle that Sherman would one day become an inseparable part of her family. It was amazing how quickly Sherman and Michelle's husband became close and inseparable from each other.

As a result, when the time came for Sherman to meet prospective adopters, Michelle realized she couldn't separate him from his best buddy.

Without hesitation, she and her husband made Sherman a permanent member of their family. With a loving family and a permanent home, Sherman was overjoyed.

Sherman walks with a limp as a result of a past accident, but Michelle and her husband know exactly how to provide him with the beautiful life that suits such an adorable canine.

In the event that Sherman gets too tired during walks, they use a doggy stroller to transport him. Additionally, they laid down mats on their home floor to make it easier for him to get around.

Sherman also receives acupuncture and other specialist treatments, which have made a significant difference in his health.

Here's a video of his journey below:

This story is so powerful and touching. It's a reminder to all of us that we can make a difference in the life of an animal by volunteering at our local shelter or rescue group, donating money, giving supplies for animals in need, etc.

If you're looking for ways to help out any pets in your area who are facing homelessness or neglectful homes please take some time to explore these resources available online. The world needs more people like this volunteer!
