Guy Who Legitimately Bought His Cousins’ Inheritance Gets Accused Of Scam When He Sells It 100x The Amount
"I pointed out it took a decade for anything to happen so it was the very definition of a gamble"

I've heard this quote a lot, and I've used it a lot with my teams. I believe it's a variation of a quote by Louis Pasteur, and according to some sources, the quote is "Chance favors the prepared mind."
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," says Seneca, another Roman philosopher. Both "luck favors the prepared" quotes emphasize the importance of preparation and the role it plays in reducing the unfavorable potential of unmanaged chance.
Today's corporate leaders (at least the successful ones amongst them) are attempting to plan for the future. Getting through difficult times is much easier if you are ready and have a clear understanding of where you want to go and what you must do to get there (a little good fortune doesn't hurt, either).
It's the same luck that favors this Redditor, NoWeakness6891, after he saw ahead of time and bought his cousins' inheritance from them. Now the inheritance he bought in the form of landed property has appreciated, and the cousins think they were scammed out of their inheritance.
While the OP plans to keep the bulk of the land and is living in the house the great-grandfather built, the OP sold 2 acres for 100x the price paid to the cousins for the entire land. When they found out, crap hit the fan.
This prompted the original poster to share the story with the AITA subreddit group in order to get their opinions. Scroll down to read how the entire story unfolded.
The Title

The headline was courtesy of the OP's cousins

The best part was that the land was given an agricultural tax designation

Everything was done legally and everyone was happy at the time

The family exploded and they are screaming I cheated them

The OP went further to add this edit

And as usual, we've gathered up a bunch of the top comments from Redditors for you below

They just wanted instant gratification

You also get to enjoy the beauty and the memories

They probably didn't help you during the lean times

The bug's life

It is their fault, not yours

My aunt's and uncles are happy it stayed in the family

There's always a possibility of land becoming more valuable

Their fault for not doing any due diligence

You invested the money in a stock

They were short sighted when they sold

You could cut them a tip as goodwill

They are only blowing up because they know you

It is your investment and it is your profit

They want a piece because you did well

They lost out on money a decade later

They shouldn't have sold out their shares

It's their own faults they wanted money then

You bought it fair and square

Well, this was an interesting story and a lesson about investments. It's a cliche, but it's true: good fortune favors the prepared.
If you want to be successful, you must prepare ahead of time and ensure that you are ready for whatever chance comes your way. What are your thoughts on this story? Let us know in the comments section below.
