Redditor Is Relieved To Find Out They're Not The Only Ones Who Scratch Their Dog’s Itchy Skin

Nothing unsettles you more than seeing your pet in discomfort, so treating your dog's itchy skin comes first. Dogs itch for a variety of reasons, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all.

Pests and allergies, both of which can be seasonal, are the two most common causes of itchy skin in dogs. In addition to your dog's scratching frequently, you may notice that their fur appears dry and druffy.

Your dog is unlikely to stop itching and may ignore you when you tell them to "come" or "sit." And every now and then, you might reach out to scratch those itchy spots that their limbs can't reach.

This is the case of a Redditor, lexietea, whose dog can’t stop itching, and sometimes the OP offers to help scratch the itching spots because the dog can reach them. This Redditor knows helping his furry friend get comfortable is key, but deep down the OP fears, it's not the right thing to do.

This prompted the original poster to share this with the AITA community in order to get their opinions. As you would expect, the AITA group responded massively.

The AITA group almost unanimously told him that it’s normal to scratch your itchy furry friend. Scroll down to read more about what they had to say.

A proper etiquette entails scratching your dog itches

Every dog needs to scratch now and then, and that's normal. When a dog is constantly licking, scratching, biting, and chewing to the point of injury, scratching becomes a symptom of a larger problem.
