The OP explained that he and his wife had been away visiting his wife's parents with all of her siblings, and their partners and children. The Redditor's wife and her twin niece and nephew all had their birthdays around the same time, so they each got a day to celebrate with the entire family.
When it was the OP's wife's turn, the family gathered for a nice dinner. The guests included her oldest brother "Dan" and his fiance "Tina.
Tina will be Dan's third wife, and she is also his former mistress. Dan has a history of cheating on his previous wives.
Tina is a fitness instructor, and healthy eating is very important to her. She also tends to make backhanded comments about other family members' bodies.
For the OP's wife's birthday dinner, the Redditor and his FIL cooked a big dinner with lots of her favorite dishes. The idea was for her to enjoy herself and indulge in all her favorite foods.
Later on in the night, the OP's wife felt like a snack. So, she went downstairs to find something while the OP was in the bathroom.
She ran into Tina in the kitchen, who started nagging her about being hungry again so soon. She also told the OP's wife, "It's easier to keep your partner interested when you can be your best self."
That comment clearly hurt his wife, so the OP stepped in and said, "That's rich coming from you because no amount of time spent on your appearance will ever keep Dan interested for long."
Tina got very upset and stormed off to her room. It wasn't long before Dan came out and told the OP he was a jerk for commenting on his cheating.
The OP told Dan it was disgusting for Tina to comment on his wife's body and imply that he would cheat on her for being chubby. The OP says he loves his wife's body and would never be unfaithful to her.
But now the OP is wondering if he's the a**hole here. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.
