Nope, being a spy isn't much at all like being Black Widow.

People Dish On Jobs They Feel Are Too Romanticized In Movies But Actually Kind Of Suck In The Real World

A lot of us grew up thinking of what our dream jobs would be in the future. As kids, we weren't really aware of the realities of life so naturally, our dreams were practically endless—a lot of us wanted to be astronauts, artists, actors, or even a superhero.

Part of why our aspirations were so full-blown wild back then was because of certain things we read in books or see on our screens. For a lot of us who had a lot of role models from movies and TV shows back then, we also tried to base our dreams on what we saw in front of us, especially when we reached the 'tween' stage of our lives.

As young people, we have loved to watch movies or rom-coms that feature protagonists working as fashion designers, journalists, and writers, and can even range to assassins, spies, or secret agents. Well, who wouldn't want to have a job like those when they are so glamorously depicted on our screens?

It's funny how clueless we were back then, but now, as adults, we have come to realize that choosing a career is really not an easy journey to take—because the world does not exactly revolve around us, right? Given that, how some jobs are depicted in movies is really far from what they actually are like in real life.

Come to think of it, programmers and computer scientists always find some good laughs whenever they see a movie scene that involves "hacking" something. It's understandable that films may not always give us accurate representations, but hey, they were still pretty entertaining and inspiring for us as a kid!

But fictional settings aside, here are some of the most romanticized jobs in movies but actually kind of suck in real life—courtesy of the people of Reddit when someone posted a question about it under the r/AskReddit community.

Take a look at some of the most interesting responses!

At the top of our list, being a spy. We blame Hollywood for feeding us such great spy movies but unfortunately, it's not as glamorous to work as one in real life.

Movie spies are the luckiest spies—they don't to face any boring paperwork! Just guns and explosions, apparently.

Films and shows have also romanticized working for publishing too much—and they made it look so easy to get into it, too! Being a writer in real life is not really as interesting as they make it to be, and it's hard enough to pitch ideas especially when you aren't armored with money.

Almost all of us had that phase when we wanted to work for National Geographic. Having that in mind, this one's a pretty good read.

Playing games as a job isn't that fun after all... unless you like doing it over and over and over and over again every day.

Well, that's just the reality of life. But let this be a sign to not make your job your life.

Growing up into adulthood really leads us to a lot of betrayals from the things we used to think of or looked up to as a kid, but well, that's just the reality of life! Unfortunately, we can't always get what we want and it's not always as glamorous as we see on TV, but hey, we're still free to dream, right?
