Embarrassingly it happens most in places with strangers. Workplaces, stores, you name it, those accidental slip-ups would often leave you mortified.
The amount of facepalm that those responses warrant is insurmountable but it is actually common in adults. Things that were taught to us as kids or stuff we say in routine would lead to them being reflex responses.
Then your brain catches up a minute too late and if you could disappear on the spot, you would. Because sometimes those moments happen in the most awkward of times.
In an AskReddit post, a Redditor asked people what is the "calling the teacher, Mom" of adulthood. Basically, it's responding to someone with reflex answers like "you too" or calling someone with names you use on a daily basis.
You wouldn't believe how often it happens with adults. Comments and replies poured in and it was variations of responses, even with people from the receiving end.
A lot of people admitted to being embarrassed at first but sooner or later, it became a funny story. So next time it happens and you feel like transporting to the next planet, just know you're not alone.
