Is this the best profile on Twitter? Probably.
Sometime in early 2014, Matt Nelson joined the social media phenomenon known as Twitter and he had absolutely no clue what was in store for his future. Reflecting on how it all began, he posted on his website:
... I wrote jokes, or did my best I should say. There's only a handful I'm truly proud of, but this process of molding your words to convey your embarrassingly quirky thought or idea in a way that generates your intended response and doing so in less than 140 characters is an unmatched thrill for me. I can only compare it to when you're cutting wrapping paper and your scissors start to glide. Even the simplest captions on WeRateDogs probably took me like 10-15 minutes of absolute focus. After spending 2 years making jokes on Twitter, I realized that if your tweet contained a certain four-legged friend, it would get more popular than it probably should. I did whatever it took to include dogs in my tweets. Then, one day, at an Applebee's in Fuquay-Varina, NC, I asked my friend Morgan how his quesadilla burger was. "10/10" was his response. "What if I made an account that rates dogs?" was mine.
And after the 20-year-old Campbell University student had spent two years "pouring" his heart into his personal Twitter, his new account took only 5 days to pass his original account follower count. Today, WeRateDogs entertains hundreds of thousands of dog lovers all over the world and they do a darn heckin' good job at it! It's taken just under two years to amass more than 2 million followers and with a small team of three people total, WeRateDogs makes us laugh and cry tears of joy with their witty responses to user-submitted photos of man's best friend and truthfully, we cannot get enough. Have a look for yourself at some of the absolute best the witty Twitter page has to offer us!
This one did us a frighten!
Truly a mystery.
Puppers aren't fans of bath time. Dirt is a good thing!
Admit it: you want this dog.
We want boops not boo's!
Have you ever wished you could pet a dog through a computer screen? Now you have.
You're all good boys. Class dismissed.
You are SO good.
There is no art like pupper art.
Get it together, Dave.
Both totally adorable. We are lost in their fluff.
My favorite season is pupper season.
There is a whole lotta love behind that bork.
Such a good, good boy!
All doggos love to go "bye-bye." Look at this smile!
What's a vacation without man's best friend? Nothing.
Who needs a jack in the box when we could have a pup in the box!?
It just means your dream job is still out there.
Good girl, Milky!
Thor was clearly the master of such witchcraft.
The only game more fun than fetch! Just look at this good boy.
He's just helping, he swears. Good boy.
I've never seen a Hawaiian shirt look so good.
This is the dog of my dreams, how about you?
Perhaps... an underdog push?
