Teen Makes Her Parents Upset For Having Underwhelming Reaction To Her Mom Being Pregnant
After having one child, you may have concluded that your small family is complete, for whatever reason. But what happens if your kid starts requesting a sibling after observing that other children have their own siblings?

Certainly, there are some explanations you can give to your kid for why it's acceptable for him or her to be the only child and why there wouldn't be another brother or sister. The child might need some time to get over her aspirations to become an older sister or brother.
The 25-year-old OP used to beg for a sibling when she was younger, and now it's finally happened. Her mom and dad called her to tell her that they were expecting another baby.
This will be the OP's first and possibly only sibling because it took such a long time for her mom to have another baby. The OP didn't really react much, as she was really surprised.
The OP also had a lot of thoughts that happened so quickly, and admittedly, most of them weren't that positive. OP's mom was really upset by her underwhelming initial reaction.
On top of that, the OP's parents aren't super thrilled that, after a few weeks, the OP was no more excited. OP's dad said that having a sibling is a blessing, and the OP wanted this child, but now it's like she doesn't want a sibling anymore.
And here's the headline
The OP had like a lot of thoughts that happened so quickly
OP's dad told her how disappointed he was in her that she was underreacting so badly
OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the a-hole:
I had an underwhelming reaction to my mom's pregnancy announcement and that really hurt my mom's feelings. I saw how excited my mom and dad were and I didn't even fake some enthusiasm in front of them so they wouldn't be upset and I feel like that could kinda make me TA.
The Reddit post went viral with more than a thousand comments and here are a bunch of the most upvoted ones
The OP's not they child that wanted a sibling
Did they ask how the OP feels about it?
The OP can have any reaction she wants
The OP will feel more like an additional parent
It's good that OP's parents are happy with the pregnancy
They are not doing the OP a favor
The OP and her sibling won't be growing up together
Will the OP be forced to provide child care?
A parent's insightful and encouraging words are what will make their child realize that every family is unique and that the child is incredibly special, whether or not there is a sibling in the picture. The OP's grown now and has let go of that thought of getting a sibling so she can't be blamed for her reaction.
Redditors dissected the whole issue and the OP was declared not the AH.
