Parents Wish To Reconnect With Their Daughter After Her Sister Died Despite Mistreating And Abusing Her For Years

“ I told them to accept they had lost their only child and to leave me alone because there was nothing they could do for me after 18 years.”

It's easy to slip back into the terrible situation you recently survived. It's the most wasteful thing anyone can do, especially after recovering and moving on.

Some individuals from the past might pop back into your life for whatever reason and try to drag you back into a terrible living situation. It's not wise to sacrifice your happiness to make someone else happy.

Whether it's a family member, romantic partner, or friend, it's smarter to avoid getting involved with them again. It's a risk you shouldn't be ready to take.

A Redditor who goes by the username u/Ok_Horror542 made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole subReddit where she explained how her estranged parents wished to reconnect with her after her sister recently passed away. The user has been living with her grandma for a while after the terrible treatment she received from her parents throughout her whole childhood, so she didn't want to reconnect but is still unsure whether that's the way to go.

OP has every right to reject her parent's approaches. They had the chance to make things right, but they completely neglected her and made her feel like she didn't matter.

Kudos to the grandma for offering Op an escape from the hell she used to live in. If you enjoyed reading this, make sure to check out similar content on our platform.

Refusing to share an inheritance may reflect personal boundaries or past family conflict. It's not always selfish - sometimes, it's about self-respect.
