Parental Stress Identified As Critical Public Health Concern, Warns U.S. Surgeon General
Many parents would agree.

Being a parent is not easy, and although there are many parents in the world, there isn't much support or statistical evidence that would showcase how hard it truly can be. There are so many reasons why being a parent is difficult, and many of us can relate to it heavily.
As a parent, you're faced with some of the toughest decisions and, ultimately, the most patience-absorbing situations. It's truly a superpower to be a parent, and that's why it's important to recognize just how hard parenting can be.
In this article, we actually get a little bit of gratification as there is now evidence that parental stress is actually affecting the health of people all over the globe. Stress can be a huge factor in many other issues, and it can be terrible for mental health and even physical health.
Stress can already be terrible for people all over the world, and parental stress is just another ballgame for many. This health advisory shows that many people are expected to take on ample amounts of stress on a daily basis and are expected to be okay.
We're going to examine what the U.S. Surgeon General is saying and why it is declaring parental stress a public health advisory.
Being a parent is extremely stressful and it's time that someone with a medical degree agrees with that statement.
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy put out an advisory saying that parental stress can negatively affect both the parents and the children who are in this situation.
"The work of parenting is essential not only for the health of children but also for the health of society. Additionally, we know that the well-being of parents and caregivers is directly linked to the well-being of their children," Murthy wrote.
"The stresses parents and caregivers have today are being passed to children in direct and indirect ways, impacting families and communities across America," he continued. "Yet in modern society, parenting is often portrayed as a less important, less valued pursuit. Nothing could be further from the truth."

If it's a public advisory then that means people should be paying attention to it.
These public advisories tend to draw attention to public health issues and in this case, it is "the importance of parental stress, mental health and well-being, stressors unique to parenting, and the bidirectional relationship between parental mental health and child outcomes."
Murthy said that there is a huge cultural shift that needs to change to support the over sixty million parents that are in the United States. The advisory touched on financial support for parents, which is something that was heavily spoken about when talking about stress in parents.
"The American public can do more to support parents and caregivers by shifting norms to foster a culture that values, supports, and empowers parents/caregivers and addresses stressors that can impact their mental health and well-being," Murthy said.

There are many different things that can contribute to parental stress, but one thing to remember is that many people can relate to you. with over sixty million parents in the United States, there ought to be much more support for those who are raising the next generation of kids.
Do you experience parental stress?
