It's hard enough to make it to Hollywood yet it's even harder for celebrities to hold a steady sway over their fans during the span of their career. Even in this glamorous industry, celebrities often find themselves set aside for the shinier, younger, new arrivals.

Some A-listers, however, defy this rule and stay beloved by the majority of people over their careers from start to their beautiful golden years. Take Morgan Freeman for example or as some of you know him, God.

He's not really God, as far as our investigation shows anyway, but he did voice God in his movie 'Bruce Almighty' with Jim Carrey. The 84-year-old actor didn't start his stellar film career until he was in his 40s.

His first major acting gig was on the 'Electric Company' but he started becoming an in-house name when he got cast in the film 'Driving Miss Daisy'. Ever since then Freeman has landed some seriously good roles in movies like, 'The Shawshank Redemption,' 'Now You See Me,' 'Evan Almighty' (he also played God in this one), and 'Last Vegas' to name a few.

He has been the sought-after narrator for a lot of films and highly acclaimed documentaries as well. He is beloved by many even after spending a lot of years under the limelight.

They may have had to "reinvent" themselves to make their career trajectory steady and it worked; they may be from an older generation but even the young ones know and love them. Morgan Freeman is not alone in this category and here are other actors who have been cherished by fans for some decades:

1. Jane Fonda — 84 years old

She was Barbarella in the camp classic film and she has played the character Grace Hanson in the American TV series 'Grace and Frankie'. Beyond her acting roles, Fonda receives so much adoration for her staunch activism.

2. Robert De Niro — 78 years old

New York born actor made popular by his roles in a series of Martin Scorcese films. He is in some of the most highly regarded films like 'The Godfather Part II,' 'The Goodfellas,' 'Raging Bull,' and 'The Irishman' to name a few.

3. Betty White — 99 years old

This list would not be complete without the late Betty White. She has become some meme of sorts for the younger generation, joking about how old she is but she was and is truly well-loved.

She played Rose Nylund, one of the main characters in 'Golden Girls'. She was one of the pioneers of American television and she is one of the few celebrities we can truly say was universally loved.

4. Alfredo James Pacino — 81 years old

Al Pacino for short is one of the best actors of his generation. He has been in movies like 'Scarface,' and he played Michael Corleone in the movie regarded as one of the best movies of all time, 'The Godfather'.

5. Meryl Streep — 72 years old

Meryl Streep is regarded as the best actress of her generation and for good reason. She is known for her ability to fully inhabit the character she is playing and she has won a lot of awards for her versatility.

6. William Shatner — 90 years old

As they know him, Captain Kirk for Star Trek Fans. William Shatner is a Canadian actor who has made a career in American TV as an actor and he also dabbles in producing, writing, and directing.

7. Dame Angela Lansbury — 96 years old

The Irish-British actress is one of the few surviving actresses from the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema. Her trophied career spans from the theater, to film, and TV.

8. Donald Sutherland — 86 years old

To the younger generation know him as President Snow from 'The Hunger Games' movie trilogy. However, Donald Sutherland had a 6-decade career that earned him a start in the Hollywood Walk of Fame prior to that role.

9. Dame Judi Dench — 87 years old

Hailed as one of Britain's best actresses, Dame Judi Dench has a versatile career. She started her illustrious acting journey on stage and eventually explored film and in case you forgot she was M in some James Bond movies.

10. Clint Eastwood — 91 years old

He is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, Western film and TV actors. Clint Eastwood cemented his international acclaim with his movie 'Million Dollar Baby' where he played the moody veteran trainer to an aspiring waitress turned professional boxer.

It cannot be said enough that a career such as theirs is rare and coveted. Not only are they amazing actors, but they have also remained as darlings of their fans worldwide.

Their names alone are enough to draw a sure crowd to any event, movie, or TV project. We are fortunate to have witnessed their talents at the height of their careers.
