It would be so awesome to see them...

A film undergoes several modifications, shifts, rewrites, and occasionally complete reshoots between the first word on the page of a script and the completed theatrical release. Even after a film has been released—as in the instance of Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner"—the filmmaker can continue to work on additional adjustments for future home media releases, or even as wholly new films from the theatrical version.
Director Jordan Peele revealed that his critically acclaimed and award-winning picture "Get Out" went through 200 drafts before he had a version ready for production. Even then, once it was shown to test audiences, the original finale had to be reshot.
Filmmaking is a team effort. Different perspectives and inputs can radically alter a film's initial course when all the moving components are integrated and cast and crew assembled.
This is in addition to the feedback gathered through test screenings, which can make a film's journey to completion even more difficult. And even after all that effort - the directors get it wrong! Well, at least according to some people.
They are sharing their visions of better movie endings and we are showing you some of the most interesting. Take a look - maybe you will agree with them.
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)
"I know it technically doesn't count, since they are book-to-movie adaptations, but I'd change the names Harry gave to his children, Snape's redemption arc (sorry, I don't think adults bullying children is ever okay), and the many deaths (mainly Fred and Remus — Percy should have died instead), and I would have had the Dursleys get thrown into Azkaban instead of just completely ignoring the abuse Harry suffered. It sends a horrible message to kids that everyone acted as if it wasn't a big deal. I could go on forever." —Seriously24
"At the end of Deathly Hallows Part 2, Voldemort should have just died like a normal human because that was the whole point...not, like, weirdly dissolve." —Hollis
Warner Bros. Pictures2. The Godfather (1972)
"I know a lot of people will hate me for this, but in The Godfather, I think that Kay should have killed Michael. It was obvious that she didn't want to be in a relationship with him anymore, but she was lying to herself.
Also, he had way too much power over her, and she didn't want to be involved with the Mafia." —endlessknowledge
Paramount Pictures3. I Am Legend (2007)
"I Am Legend should have ended like the book. Neville should have become the ultimate villain by accident, even if he was trying to help."
—VenkmanPhD
Warner Bros. Pictures4. Titanic (1997)
"We all know that Jack should have fit on the door at the end of Titanic, but I was hoping throughout the movie that they'd reveal that Rose married Jack, who was living under an alias so they wouldn't find him and Rose. It killed me when he actually died."

Paramount Pictures5. Onward (2020)
"For the Pixar film Onward, I would've liked to see Ian meeting his deceased dad when he briefly comes back to life (spoiler alert: He tried, but he lost the chance)."

Disney / Pixar6. Us (2019)
"Adelaide knowing the entire time that she was the real Tethered just didn’t make sense to me, given her behavior throughout the movie. I would've had the reveal come not as a flashback but as the audience just going back in time to see what we didn’t get to see before.
We know the truth, but it was strongly implied that Adelaide had completely repressed the memory because of trauma, so the characters had no idea who she really was."

Universal Pictures / Monkeypaw Productions7. Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
"The Force is all about balance, not one side triumphing over the other. I would've had Ben Solo live and use his bond with Rey to balance the Force again using the Gray Jedi teachings, ushering forth a new era of Jedi who are comfortable with both the dark and light inside them and who don't have to live in fear of being perfect.
The stormtroopers would've rebelled, inspired by Finn's actions, and the First Order and Resistance would've called a truce and built a new second Republic."

Lucasfilm8. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)
"The second To All the Boys SO needs a new ending! There’s this hot John Ambrose guy who had the same interests as Lara Jean and was sweet and treated her better, but she still went with PETER???
That always confused me, and it’s such a common thread in rom-coms (going with the original guy instead, even if the new guy is actually a better match)."

Netflix9. The Notebook (2004)
"I'd rewrite the end of The Notebook — I think the 'twist' that the old man was Noah and the old woman was Allie was a little too predictable for the emotional gut punch that the film tried to pull off. I wish the old man had turned out to be Lon — Allie never left him to be with Noah, and they lived out their days as husband and wife.
During her dementia, knowing that she was never truly happy with him, Lon made the ultimate sacrifice to 'love' and allowed Allie to believe that she married Noah and had the fairy-tale life she always wanted with him."

New Line Cinema10. Bend It Like Beckham (2002)
"I would have had Jess and Jules get together. They had major chemistry, everyone already thought they were a couple, and most importantly, Jess deserved better than Joe!"
Helkon SK11. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
"I'd rewrite the ending of Avengers: Endgame. Tony just wanted everyone to be safe, so for him to make the ultimate sacrifice was out of character.
Steve and Thor would’ve made more sense for that sacrifice because that’s within their character arcs. I feel like the writing was ultimately catering to the 'final' Marvel film for Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, rather than the characters we spent 10 years growing to love."

Marvel12. My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)
"Michael doesn't marry Kim OR Jules. He realizes that he and Kim will never last in the long run and that Jules is a toxic, horrible person.
He leaves and hopefully finds a better, healthier relationship somewhere down the road."
—SForsgren1
Sony Pictures Releasing13. Happiest Season (2020)
"Abby should have left with John instead of going back to Harper. Harper was an awful girlfriend to Abby and manipulated her.
I would have loved to see Abby realize she didn't need someone that toxic in her life, and for Harper to still come out to her family. I would've also loved to see Harper make amends with Riley after seeing how awful it felt to lose Abby."
—Kara P.
Sony Pictures Releasing / Hulu14. Bridget Jones's Baby (2016)
"When they're taking Bridget to the hospital and they get stopped by the protest (which involves the women Mark defended), I thought for sure the protesters were going to recognize him and help get her to the hospital. This could have been Mark's 'knight in shining armor' moment and would have validated his work and also his dedication to it."
—jjtsmomma
Universal Pictures15. Corpse Bride (2005)
"I really hated the ending of Corpse Bride, when she just dissolved into butterflies. I would've had her end up staying solid and going off on her own.
The original ending was kind of stupid and came out of nowhere."
—colleend9
Warner Bros, Pictures16. Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
"I loved the movie Inside Llewyn Davis, but I would've ended the movie a tad bit earlier. Davis impregnated an old girlfriend who bore his child, and never met the child or had any contact with the ex.
On the way back to New York City, he passed an exit sign, showing the town where the ex and child lived. I think the movie should have ended there, making the viewer wonder if he ever stopped there to see his ex and meet his child.
The actual ending didn’t add that much, other than expose Carey Mulligan’s character (which they could've done in an earlier scene) and the 'appearance' of Bob Dylan at the club announcing that music was taking a new turn. The Dylan appearance wasn’t crucial — the viewer knew that Davis’s career was over, regardless of what else happened."

CBS Films17. Gravity (2013)
"Instead of the movie ending with Sandra Bullock returning to Earth, I wish it had cut back to her still stuck in space, hallucinating George Clooney, talking to herself, and slowly losing her grip on reality. It's dark, but hey, that's me."
—howzitguy96815
Warner Bros. Pictures18. Soul (2020)
"I loved Soul as a whole, but I wish they had shown us who 22 grew up to be or where she was now."
"It would’ve been nice to see 22's future. I thought she was going to become a teacher or therapist!"
Disney / Pixar19. Carol (2015)
"I'm glad Carol ended on an optimistic note and allowed the viewer to use their imagination to determine what happened with Carol and Therese, but I also wanted something more concrete! I would've loved to see Carol get up from the dinner table after those deep, deep stares and walk away with Therese to their new apartment in New York City. Simple but sweet."

The Weinstein Co.Due to test screenings and studio interference, "Blade Runner" has a number of potential endings - seven of them! After the film's disappointing box office reception in 1982, Ridley Scott continued to work on the most definitive version of the film.
