Upset Mom Cancels Partaking In Family Vacation Due To Fiancé's Childcare Refusal, Upset That Her Mom And Sister Are Still Going

It's been three years since a 23-year-old last saw her older sister. Her sister, her fiancé, and their two sons live overseas.

They have been dreaming of going on a trip with their mom for a long time. Their schedules finally aligned around the time of their mom's birthday.

They couldn't finalize the trip unless her sister's fiancé agreed to take a leave from work to take care of the children. OP's future brother-in-law informed them that he couldn't take time off from work.

OP and her mom were disappointed by the update. A few days later, her sister's fiancé posted photos of him and his friends on a week-long trip to Amsterdam.

It was impossible for him to take two days off from work, but a week was a non-issue. Something didn't add up and the family was pissed.

OP was no stranger to her future BIL's selfishness. He was a terrible and stingy guest the last time they visited OP's parents.

OP and her mom asked her sister again if her fiancé really couldn't find a way to take two days off. He finally admitted that he felt hurt when they didn't invite him on their trip.

OP's dad and her boyfriend weren't invited on their girl's trip either. OP's mom was furious that her future son-in-law was the reason that their long-awaited holiday got canceled.

OP and her mom decided to go ahead with the trip. They booked their tickets, just the two of them.

OP's sister was mad that they would do this to her. She said they can't go on the trip.

To placate her, OP's parents planned another vacation for the latter part of the year. OP's sister and her oldest son were invited.

OP's parents will pay for their expenses. Her future BIL begrudgingly agreed to take care of their younger son even though he wanted OP's parents to pay for them to join the holiday as well.

Her sister is still upset that the birthday trip will happen without her

It's not OP's fault that her sister chose an unreliable man to have kids with

She should redirect her feelings to the person who deserves it. It's definitely not OP or their mother.

Why can't he sulk and take care of their kids? Can't he multitask?

He is more childish than actual children

His behavior makes it seem like he doesn't want OP's sister to have a life outside of their home where he couldn't control her

OP said she will find a way to make sure that her sister is safe or at least okay in this relationship

OP and her mom didn't do anything wrong when they decided to push through with the birthday vacation. It's not their fault that her sister couldn't join them because of her boyfriend.

OP and her sister are at different stages in their lives. It's not OP's job to shy away from experiences to protect her sister's feelings.

She should look closer to home and see who is actually preventing her from having fun

OP's sister will have an even more difficult time going anywhere that isn't home once she marries this guy. He seems like the kind of person who won't let their significant others out of their sight.

OP's sister is in an unhealthy relationship. Their trip towards the end of the year will be an opportunity for OP to help her sister face reality.
