Redditor Asks If She's Wrong For Calling Out Mom Who's Trying To Claim Her Dog As Hers

When the pandemic was at its height, and many countries were implementing lockdowns, one of the biggest issues many people faced was loneliness. Suddenly being alone for so long and having drastically reduced their social contact has really impacted people in ways they never expected.

This is also one of the primary reasons why a lot of people got pets over that period of time. And it made sense because pets do make wonderful companions, especially if you're stuck at home working all alone all day long.

For some people, though, they were lucky enough to have a family member or a friend lend a pet to them to keep them company until at least lockdown restrictions were lifted. This is what Reddit borderlinescorpio did for her mom, who was alone during lockdowns.

Out of concern for her mom, she lent her beloved dog for two months, however, she still hasn't gotten her dog back. And it's not because her mom is still locked up alone in the house, no.

It's because her mom is basically trying to steal her dog by making OP the bad guy in the story. However, OP is also worried that if she gets the dog back by force, she might end up damaging whatever relationship she has with her mom.

Here's the whole story.

But OP can't let go of her dog that easily either

OP's situation is very complicated because on one hand, she might lose the dog that helps her so much and on the other, she might permanently damage her relationship with her mom. It's not an easy choice but OP also has to make it.

The fact is, it's OP's dog from the very beginning. And she lent it to her mom out of the goodness of her heart.

And just because it's her daughter, OP's mom doesn't have any right to just take the pup as she pleases. Many people in the comments section also agree.

If the mom wanted a pet of her own to keep her company, she could have gotten her own. If she didn't want to spend thousands of dollars, she could've gone to the shelter where she could've gotten a sweet pup for so much less.

OP deserves to get her dog back. It's rightfully hers, and nothing her mom will say will reverse that.

Hopefully, OP gets to take her dog home.
