24-Year-Old Puerto Rican Model’s Dreams Came True When She Became Victoria’s Secret’s First Model With Down Syndrome

Fashion designers have always chosen stunning, attractive, and physically fit models to model their products on the catwalk and other less traditional fashion events. These models have established high standards for themselves - and everyone else.

Namely, this has created a gap between what models and genuine real-life people look like. However, as a society, we are progressing year after year, so it's no surprise that a number of major companies and modeling agencies have recently begun to include a number of disabled persons as part of their brand, providing more accurate representation on runways and magazine covers.

Today, we'd like to tell you about Sofa Jirau, a 24-year-old Puerto Rican model with Down syndrome. She made a debut at New York Fashion Week in 2020 and has made quite a name for herself in the fashion industry.

Her latest accomplishment is becoming Victoria's Secret's first model with Down syndrome. In a recent interview she said, “I want to tell the whole world that people with my condition, Down syndrome, inside and out, we have no limits.”

After getting the job, Sofía flew all the way to Los Angeles for her campaign photoshoot for the “Love Cloud” bra collection.

And offered her an opportunity to work with them.

Sofia was very happy with the news and agreed instantly

She says that “I want to tell the whole world that people with my condition, Down syndrome, inside and out, we have no limits”

And the new role is her biggest accomplishment

She is currently focused on conquering the runways in Europe in 2022 and further growing her business. Namely, she became an entrepreneur in 2019 by launching an online store, named "Alavett", based on her favorite phrase "I love it", where she sells clothing, accessories, and home products.

Sofia hopes her story will inspire people

They should push through life and make their dreams come true

Her moto is "Inside and outside there are no limits"

She has appeared on the covers of countless magazines

She currently works as Experience Ambassador in the Puerto Rican company INprende

Sofia says that for her, the most important thing about fulfilling her dreams is to show people around the world that there are no limits and to inspire them to pursue their own dreams. This is why she always says "Inside and out there are no limits" to motivate people to break through their self-imposed limitations.
