Redditor Threatens Husband With Divorce If He Allows His Mother To Crash Her Mom's Funeral
The loss of a parent is always emotionally crushing. But when Reddit user u/outwitthebully lost her mom recently, she had a whole other issue to deal with that made an already tough time even harder.

The OP explained that her mother passed away about three weeks ago, not long after Mother's Day. A few days after Mother's Day, the OP received a card from her MIL.
The Redditor says her MIL doesn't usually send her a Mother's Day card, especially since they've had no contact for the past six years. However, the OP says she has suspicions that her MIL has kept in touch with some of her family members during that time, which is most likely how she found out about her mom's passing.
The Redditor says she is fairly certain that her family members have told her MIL about the memorial service for her mom, and now she's concerned that she will "crash" it. After all, it would be the perfect opportunity for MIL to see the grandchildren she hasn't seen for six years.
The OP's husband hasn't been helping matters either. He says the OP just needs to "chill out," and that if his mother does turn up, he will "take her out to lunch" while the rest of the family are at the funeral.
When the OP pointed out to her husband that he would be leaving her at her mother's funeral alone if he did that, he replied with, "What do you want me to do, call the police?" He also said the OP was being "silly" because "none of this will happen."
As a last resort, the OP told her husband that he needs to hire security for the funeral. She told him if he doesn't, and his mother turns up, she will fly home early and will be filing for divorce.
So, is the OP overreacting here? Keep scrolling to see how the people of Reddit responded.
