Everybody has lied at least once in their lifetime. White lies are okay as long as they help the person get out of a sticky situation, but sometimes individuals lie even when they don't have to.
There are so many reasons why people lie. One of which is that telling the truth might often entail letting go of control.
Some can be attempting to exert control over a certain circumstance in order to sway a choice and obtain the desired outcomes. The truth might be a little awkward, given the circumstances.
Then, there are people who frequently tell lies out of a desire to avoid disappointing others. You see, some individuals react violently when something does not sound the way they want it to because they have high expectations of us.
Therefore, lying is common among those who do not want to argue or harbor ill will against one another. Yes, this is one of the primary causes and it's possible that lying is crucial for the person who is telling lies.
Even though it might not matter to you, it might to them. They could be prone to overanalyzing things or are individuals who tend to overburden themselves with expectations.
Then, we have the pathological liars who have this habit of lying at the drop of a hat. We see an example in today's post and thankfully, this serial liar got busted.

Reddit/Darius_SkucasYou run the risk of being rejected, criticized, or disappointed by other people if all you do is lie. And this can be intolerable for someone who is really insecure.
There's a feeling that there's a reason why someone is rejected when they lie. In contrast, when someone opens up and gets turned down, they feel as though they are inherently unlikable, which has a detrimental effect on their self-esteem.

Reddit/Darius_SkucasWhen it comes to liars, there is a whole other class that is very thorough in lying and they even take it online just like in the case of today. Because they make-believe so often, they forget that there are people who will know who they are and are likely to expose them.
