A Kitten Was Named As 'Chimney Kitty' After Falling Down And Getting Stuck In a Chimney

Cats are adventurous and oftentimes they get into trouble because of their mischiefs. Kittens especially can be very unruly to the point that they'll need rescuing.

Whether it's indoors or outdoors, you'll see them play and do their own version of cat parkour without any inhibitions. They're quite cute as they prance around but they are prone to escaping when they get too curious about the outside world.

A perfect example would be the tale of the chimney kitty. It started when a 6-month old black cat named Rudy climbed atop a home in Rathke Drive and fell down its chimney.

Rudy was a domestic cat from that home, living with his owners Natasha Hunter and Amaya Jones. A dangerous thing that added to the situation was that the house was currently having renovations so the chimney has long been sealed.

What ultimately let the residents know about his presence was the meowing they heard from the other side of the chimney. They believe that the cat must've followed Natasha outside before it got distracted and went astray.

They decided to call for rescue from the Riverside County Animal Services and met with one of its officers, Chris Peck. With the goal of saving Rudy and reuniting him with its owners, they hatch a plan to get him out,

The animal rescuer assessed the situation and concluded that it would be difficult to get Rudy out of the chimney. He wouldn't be able to fit in the chimney himself and that would add to the gravity of trouble if he were to get stuck like the cat.

An epiphany came in the shape of a red bedsheet. At first, Chris asked if they could provide other clothing like sweaters or pants for the makeshift ladder but the mom and daughter thought the sheet would work better.

They contorted it into rope-like and let it hang inside the chimney where it would reach Rudy. After that, it's was a matter of the waiting game.

At about 4 am, Rudy channeled his inner Rapunzel and was caught escaping the chimney on the family's Ring cameras. Natasha was in awe of officer Hunter when he tried out different stuff first before resorting to the worst-case scenario of creating a hole in the sealed chimney.

Rudy is now safely back with his old ways of being cute and mischievous while he's at it. Hopefully, it'll always be like that without further chimney accidents.
