It Was An Odd Day On The Job When These Officers Were Sent On A Rodent Rescue Operation

Police officers are usually seen at their best when stopping crime or running after criminals, but that's not the only thing on their daily agenda. A typical day on the job took an unexpected turn when officers of the Berlin Police Department in Germany received an emergency call from a local hospital.

This wasn't just any type of emergency call, however. Patients at the hospital were concerned for a little hamster they had spotted, who was cowering alone in a bush nearby.

It seemed like the poor little guy was lost or abandoned, and they wanted to get him help. Officers arrived at the scene and started their search for the frightened hamster.

It's not every day that we see officers helping out rodents, but it looks like these cops were more than happy to follow through with their rescue mission. After a little bit of searching, they managed to coax him out from his hiding place and took him to the police station so that he could be kept safe.

The cops discovered the fuzzy hamster and gave him the name Sir Henry. He was then placed in an empty glove box and transported to the police station.

At the station, he was able to have some well-deserved R&R in a comfy hay bed, while checking out some nice police gear.

They took him to an animal shelter, but they couldn't face the thought of parting with their new, furry companion.

The next day, one of the officers drove to the animal shelter and adopted Sir Henry. He was then taken back to the station, and welcomed by the police spokesman as part of the "whole family of the Berlin Police Department."

Touched by Sir Henry's beautiful story, someone made a sketch of the hamster cop.
