One of the greatest gifts you can ever receive in life is having someone choose you to be part of their life. In fact, there could be no greater gift!
You may be related to someone by blood, but they may refuse to choose you to be part of their life. It’s sad to experience such rejection, but it happens more often than we think.
So what can we say about being adopted by someone we don’t share any traces of genes with? It’s absolutely an amazing thing, isn’t it?
You are being given a chance at life by someone. There are a lot of adoption stories of children that grew up to become very successful, famous, and influential.
Such stories have inspired a positive adoption culture all over the world and across races and tribes. Worthy of mention is the adoption story of Lucky Du Plessis.
Lucky Du Plessis, a South African radio personality as well as a highly-skilled graphic designer, was an orphan who was gifted a priceless chance at life when he was adopted by a loving family as a child. At the tender age of 5, Lucky was living with a drug addict and an alcoholic.
But things changed when Lucky met Charl, who’s now his brother, at the Afrikaans school. Charl was the only Afrikaans kid who wanted to be friends with Lucky in the entire Afrikaans school.
Carl’s family looked after Lucky for many years before they finally decided to adopt him. Lucky didn’t have anything before adoption.
It was Charl’s mother, Mickey, who chose the date of birth for Lucky. It’s a touching story, really!
Lucky recently decided to go on Twitter and share the touching story of his adoption in the hopes of inspiring others to consider adoption as a wise option
lucky2plus3While growing up, Carl had so much influence on Lucky, academically and in rugby. In grade 5, Lucky started playing for his primary school rugby team and eventually got a scholarship at St. Stithians.
Everything about Lucky started with a “blond-haired, blue-eyed kid who didn’t see color but just a loving friend.” Here is his own story!

barbara_attwellSometimes we meet lovely kids we love so much and we wish they were part of our family or we had the opportunity to make them part of our family. Fortunately, adoption gives us that precious opportunity.
Adoption can give one a loving, rewarding experience. I believe that you will be inspired to adopt after going through the story of Lucky Du Plessis.
To inspire you more, did you know that Steve Jobs and Nelson Mandela were both adopted? It’s really lovely to give someone a new chance at life through adoption.
