Instagram's Favorite Grandma Baddie Winkle Is Definitely The Baddest Gal Out There
There's nothing in the world quite like a bada$$ grandma.
Well, that's Baddie Winkle! She's 92 years old and she's "been stealing your man since 1928".
More formally, meet Helen Ruth Van Winkle, a southerner that instantly became an Instagram icon and rose to her internet fame in 2014.
With over three million followers on Instagram, (Excuse me while I head on over and click follow too!), among those are Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. Women support women, am I right?
And almost two hundred thousand on Twitter, Baddie knows what's up!
She's even got her own Sephora beauty collection.
She's without a doubt the baddest I have ever seen! I think we all aspire to be as comfortable in our skin as she is at 92! Let this be your turning point for self-love, because damn, she's the perfect example!
Prior to becoming an internet sensation, she lead a very down to earth life in Waco, Kentucky. She resided on a small 6-acre farm, kept up with her garden, went to church every Sunday, and cared for her great grand-kids. Sounds like a pretty epic grandma to me!
But then one day her great-grand-daughter took a picture of her in some cut-off shorts and a tie-dye t-shirt, together they created her Instagram account, and posted the picture!
"I'm a bad b!tch, always been a rebel."
They decided on Baddie Winkle, "So we decided on 'bad'---- 'baddie'. And then my last name was Van Winkle so we put the Winkle on." Her first post quickly went viral and her number of follows has grown steadily over time.
Everyone's love for Baddie Winkle poured in with her dazzling, eccentric, anomalous, eclectic outfits. And most specifically her 'zero f#$ks given' mind set.
Her confidence soars, and I'm convinced that's what gave her, her edge. She's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but that's the point. I don't think she wants to be. Tell you what, if a 92 year old can be confident, then hell, I can be too. <3
