We're back again today with yet another fantastic Reddit post that was submitted on the AIT Athread by someone looking for some advice. Ultimately people come to this thread to get advice and unbiased opinions on what they did in a situation.

We enjoy going into these posts because they're always filled with so many different perspectives and getting to see everyone's opinions is always pretty interesting. We want love to see what happens in people's lives and just get to see how other people would handle it, plus it might help someone going through something similar.

With this being said, today's post is about a girl who invited her boyfriend's family to her graduation instead of her family, after being abandoned and stood up by them many times. We don't blame OP but obviously her family was not okay with this and did not have a great reaction.

OP starts off by explaining the situation with their family dynamic and how she is with her dad.

She said that she decided she wanted to invite her dad but he said that he couldn't go because he had work to do.

So she decided that she'd rather just invite her boyfriend's parents instead then since they are more supportive of her anyway.

She said that her dad was obviously upset at her for choosing to invite her boyfriend's family instead of her own.

People immediately came into the comments to agree with OP and they came for her father heavily because he's obviously very neglectful.

Dads came to the comments to let her know that they'd do anything for their kid and her dad is choosing work over her.

She can really give the invites to whoever she wants because it's for her graduation. Her dad shouldn't be mad since he's not going anyway.

OP is definitely NTA and we support her decision to invite her boyfriend's family along with her mom to watch her walk the stage and graduate.

OP actually responded to the comment above and was happy to be able to invite her boyfriend's family after all of this.

Family is definitely not just blood and whoever is there to support her should be those that she feels the most comfortable with.

OP says that this is the first time she's really taking charge and doing what she wants.

We hope that OP had a great graduation and got to invite whoever she wanted to go. We do feel bad that her dad didn't want to go but we know that things don't always work out how they should or how we want them to.
