I don't know about you, but I think wolves are some of the coolest creatures on the planet! There is just something completely majestic about them. I mean, they're essentially just big, wild doggo's after all, and how much do we love doggos?

Having said that, the chance to actually encounter one of these incredible animals up close doesn't come along often. At least, not safely. But if you'd like to, then boy, do we have good news for you!

The Predators of the Heart Sanctuary offers a 2-hour-long "Wolf Encounter Experience," which allows you to get up close and personal with these stunning beasts like nowhere else.

The sanctuary is located in Anacortes, Washington, near Seattle and next to Vancouver, just past the Canadian border.

“People should always do some due diligence before taking a sanctuary’s word for it that their animals are harmless,” the professor pointed out.

If you would like to visit the sanctuary, you will need to book a guided tour through Airbnb. It costs around 200 USD per person, and the tours run 6 days per week.

The sanctuary is also home to many other animals, including cougars, foxes and birds of prey.

It's also worth noting that you will need to be 18+ in order to enjoy the wolves encounter, and there are unfortunately no exceptions to this rule.

In the interest of full disclosure, there have been a few "safety incidents" at the sanctuary. Many years ago, a hikers dog lost its life when it wandered onto the sanctuary's private property.

Another incident occurred when a wolf escaped and entered a neighbor's property. However, since opening in 1998, the sanctuary maintains very strict standards when taking care of its animals and customers.

“Our goal is to educate children about wildlife, not only to teach the facts about the animals but to use an approach that leads to an appreciation, affection, compassion and respect for these living creatures—to make it clear that an animal’s value is not determined by its similarity or services to humans,” the sanctuary explains.

“Our purpose is to develop caring and concern for the animals. Our aim is to help open the eyes of their hearts to see that all nature is interconnected and realize that apart from it we cannot survive. We also serve as a sanctuary for animals that cannot be reintroduced to the wild and need a safe and healthy environment to live out the remainder of their lives.”
