Stalking someone is just outrageous. It doesn't matter whether the stalker aims to terrify, intimidate, or threaten someone as long as they are aware that their actions could make a reasonable person feel that way.
Stalking is a course of conduct, which means it entails ongoing, repetitive behavior. When unwanted activities are seen repeatedly, and over time, stalking becomes visible and disturbing, even though individual unwanted behaviors may not seem particularly concerning when taken as single instances.
People respond to stalking in a variety of ways, ranging from downplaying it to being extremely anxious and fearful. Being stalked may be quite damaging to a person.
It can make someone feel as though they have no control over their lives, no sense of independence, and no right to privacy. High levels of anxiety, anguish, or terror are frequently experienced, along with hypervigilance or worries that it will never end or that nobody will ever take it seriously.
It may cause problems with your health, your ability to concentrate, time lost at work and your finances. The OP has a friend who is being stalked by an ex.
