Citizens in Florida Never Want to Leave Despite Having Some Of These Crazy Things Constantly Happen In Their State

Whenever you hear the word, Florida, in the news- it's usually never for a positive reason. Heck, there's even a Reddit feed that is called "Florida Man", that's dedicated to news articles that begin with "Florida Man" and usually followed by unbelievably crazy antics.

In addition to the crazy behavior of its citizens on occasion, the weather is another huge issue that those in the Sunshine State have to deal with. In 2017, Florida was hit by Hurricane Irma and Irma wasn't too kind to the state. Between the scary weather, even scarier people, and the bugs that lay in between, why would anyone want to live in Florida at all?!

Speaking of scary weather, the rest of the country watched as Florida residents set up their generators, stocked up on groceries, and prepared for the impending damage. The rest of the country also threw their two cents regarding their opinions about evacuations. You would have to have been living under a rock during 2017 to not hear the typical, "Well, why don't they just leave if the weather is that bad?!"

Florida residents hear the criticism but they don't take it to heart. Outsiders certainly have their opinions but they fail to take into consideration that Florida residents may not have the means necessary to evacuate during a deadly storm.

All in all, Florida peeps would appreciate if outsiders kept their opinions out of the mix.

Florida Residents Trying To Wait Out The Storm

You might think it's silly but they love their home and want to stand by it through thick and thin.

While most of these reasons would scare any sane person out of moving to Florida, those who live in Florida really don't care. Citizens pride themselves on being tough because of their willingness and ability to deal with all of these various "perks" that come with their address. They truly believe that abandoning their homes in times of major weather concerns is letting nature have the upper hand- and they are simply not going to let that happen. Deep down, Florida residents know that the hurricane won't kill them, the bugs won't give them some sort of flesh-eating disease, and the crazy "Florida Man" won't run around naked in my front yard, stealing all my lawn gnomes- at least they tell themselves that none of these things will happen. All in all, Florida residents would rather go down with the hurricane than ever have to move elsewhere.

The People of Florida Have a Big Sense of Humor

Maybe too soon for the hurricane cake? For anyone else in the world, but not the people of Florida.

Publix, Florida's most cherished supermarket chain, decided to use humor to battle Hurricane Irma. They created hurricane-themed cakes complete with broken lawn chairs, hurricane wreckage, and radar images of Irma herself. These cakes further explain the sense of humor that you gain while living in the Sunshine State. If you're going to drown in a tropical storm, might as well do it while enjoying some delicious and well-decorated cake, right?

Florida residents are well aware that their state is a bit of a laughing stock, but they are proud of that. Besides all of the craziness that goes on, they have built their lives here- their homes, their families, their hopes, and their dreams. To a Florida citizen, no hurricane can ever take that away from them. Plus, the beauty that Florida holds is out of this world. From the oceans and beaches to freshwater springs, it sure isn't horrible to look at.

Rest assured in the fact that if you ever ask a Florida resident to move, they will laugh in your face. Florida is their home and they are proud of it.

A Hurricane is No Match For Florida Residents

Better luck next time, Irma.
