Amazing Moment Antelope Who Fell Into Water Got Rescued After A Vigilant Elephant Raised An Alarm

Animals spend most of their time during the day playing and jumping around from one spot to another, and it’s very good for their physical and mental well-being. It’s the same feeling we get when we go to the playground or go to the gym to exercise ourselves.

Unfortunately, a playdate with its herd at a Guatemalan zoo could have turned into a nightmare for a helpless tiny antelope. The horned animal had fallen into the water by accident and was struggling to find its way out.

Antelopes are not among the mammals that can swim, such as dogs, so it was a battle to avoid drowning. It was a fight, and the antelope knew it was going to lose if it didn't get any form of help from the people around it.

Fortunately, the antelope was given a second chance because of the alert elephant, who alerted the keepers as soon as she realized her little friend was in danger. A brave zookeeper heard the elephant's cries for help and saved the day, and a visitor captured the dramatic moment on video!

Maria Diaz witnessed a scene she will never forget while visiting the Zoológico La Aurora in Guatemala. A herd of antelopes was running around the elephant enclosure when one of them fell into a pond and was getting drowned.

But, thankfully, Trompita, a 60-year-old elephant, was on guard and saved the day in spectacular fashion. "Today I was fortunate to witness something quite beautiful—an elephant seemed worried to warn that an antelope was drowning, but it was eventually rescued by a brave worker," the woman wrote on Facebook.

The troubled elephant was desperately crying for help, and she even attempted, but failed, to lift the helpless animal with her trunk. Fortunately, a zookeeper overheard the elephant's desperate cries for help and rushed to investigate.

Lopez noticed that the antelope in the water was terrified, fighting for its life, and that an elephant was attempting to assist him. Finally, it was rescued by a brave worker, and he [Lopez] was very impressed and pleased.

Romeo López, the brave man, eventually managed to pull the antelope out of the water. In a few minutes, the antelope was reunited with the herd, feeling grateful.

Trompita, who has been at the Aurora Zoo for over 14 years, became very attached to the antelopes because they share an enclosure. A mishap brought them together, and they will now be close friends who will look out for each other.
