Animals like dolphins are not typically the type of animals to ask for a human's attention or belly rubs. We are typically used to dogs and cats being the ones that are getting our attention with back scratches and belly rubs.
This doesn't mean that sea animals and other non-house pets don't strive for a little human attention from time to time and who are we to deny it. Afterall, who can turn down giving a dolphin a belly rub or any other animal some cuddles.
Believe it or not, dolphins and dogs might have some personality characteristics that are similar. We may not take a dolphin on a walk or give them cuddles in the mornings, but that didn't stop this snorkeler from giving this dolphin some attention.
Dolphins are majestic creatures that we as humans don't get to see very often in the wild and I'm sure many of us wouldn't even know what to do if we did see one in the wild. Dolphins are a lot cuddlier than we might think.
This dolphin kindly comes up to this snorkeler and asks them for a belly rub, so what better thing to do than to give this dolphin a belly rub. However, this is not the first diver that this dolphin has done this to.
This snorkeler had a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we are excited to look into their story so we can see exactly how it went.
Elaine Farrell, a wildlife photographer, was waiting for a ferry when she spotted an adorable scene. This adorable bottlenose dolphin was having the time of its life when this snorkeler was spoiling it with belly rubs.
She quickly grabbed her camera because she couldn't miss this moment and not capture it especially being a wildlife photographer. It was definitely a sight to see.
Elaine FarrellThe dolphin kindly followed the snorkeler around and they eventually shared a beautiful moment.
The woman can be seen sitting on her boat while the dolphin is rolling over into the water while the snorkeler cuddles with it and gives it some attention. The nature photographer explained for the Irish Independent:
“I was the only person on the harbour when I noticed someone snorkeling in the water with the dolphin."
Elaine FarrellApparently, this isn't the first time that the two have met. The dolphin's name is Dusty and she's a famous dolphin that will always rush to the divers if she sees them, to ask for cuddles.
“They swam alongside each other,” Elaine said. “Then, the dolphin followed the swimmer when she got out of the water, rolling over to have his belly rubbed. Dusty clearly enjoyed the human contact.”
How cute is that?
Elaine FarrellThis dolphin is such a cutie. A dolphin interacting with humans like this may not be common, but it's absolutely adorable.
This famous dolphin, Dusty, takes the cake for the most spoiled dolphin. She's always going to divers for belly rubs.
I know I wouldn't turn down a dolphin belly rub. Share this post with a friend who loves animals or dolphins.
