Dogs are one of the most adorable creatures there are. A lot of people would agree that they could easily win you with their puppy dog eyes whenever they want something.
They’re also good company and get easily in tune whenever they like someone. So when you think you found the right dog for you, it’s hard to give it up, especially if it’s not available, to begin with.
In a r/AITA post, OP seeks the opinion of Redditors if she’ll be TA if she asks her sister if she could keep her dog. OP has a good relationship with her sister and she’s worried that if she goes through with it, there would be trouble.
Her sister is great with animals and especially talented with training dogs. She never got one of her own until she graduated as a vet tech and acquired her first dog, Tycho.
They’re very attached to each other and OP’s sister trains Tycho a lot. This is why it’s very understandable that she was hesitant about leaving him to OP for four months due to an opportunity.
OP’s sister video called often and would send money both for Tycho and also as a thank you to her. Things were going great and OP was getting attached to Tycho but this made OP not want to give him back.
It’s not just her but also her partner, thinking the dog was so well behaved and it helps OP with her autistic struggles. She relayed her thoughts to her parents but they scolded her and even threatened to cut her off if she ‘steals’ Tycho.
Here's how OP explained her situation

Jaded-Moose983OP’s struggles aren’t enough to convince Redditors that she wouldn’t be TA if she did keep her sister’s dog
ForonceinmylifetakenIf OP might want to consider changing her request for her sister or else the sense of betrayal will mess things up easily

RiversSongInTimeOP considered that her sister would want to keep supporting the dog even though she tried to keep him from his owner
bite2killDespite how OP justifies her wants, Redditors don’t see things going in her favor if she’ll go through asking her sister about keeping Tycho. It’s very likely that it would chip away the good relationship they have and hurt both of them in the process.
This is why they suggest OP to not ask her sister about the idea at all. Instead, they could look for their own lovely dog.
