Grandpa's Dog Was About To Be Put Down But This Couple Drove For Hours To Save Him

His estranged grandpa passed away recently but that didn't stop Ashton Hart from rescuing the old man's canine companion. Hart and his grandpa haven't spoken for 6 years but when he heard of his passing, one thought entered his mind: does his grandpa have any pets that needed help?

As it turns out, he did and the dog was in danger of being euthanized without anyone taking care of him. When he knew this, Hart and his husband drove 3 hours to get to the dog.

They have no idea what kind of situation they would arrive to but they didn't care. The only thing that mattered to them was the dog.

The only thing they did know was they had to get to the dog before it was too late. Hart's husband had wanted a dog for a while.

In fact, they had just started fostering and volunteering at PAWS. Before starting his own business, Hart himself had been a staunch animal activist in his adult life.

His principles and love for animals meant that he wasn't about to let his grandpa's dog get harmed and after hours of driving, the couple finally met the dog. The moment they knew of his existence, they loved him. Now that they've actually met their future dog, they love him even more.

The couple named him Oatmilk Latte. Upon arrival, they saw that the dog was extremely overweight. His fur was also matted and dirty. He probably had other health issues. The couple didn't back down, Oatmilk Latte is now their dog and they will do whatever it takes to give him a good life.

The dog was exhausted so they got him into the car then drove the 3 hours to Oatmilk Latte's new home.

Hart knew that his grandpa loved Oatmilk Latte a lot but his old age and the state of his health probably prevented him from giving the dog the attention and care he deserves.

The poor pup was clearly heart broken after losing his long-time companion. He was grieving because like for humans, it's also difficult for dogs to lose someone they love. To Oatmilk Latte, his human was his everything and losing him took a toll on him.

Little by little, Oatmilk Latte is moving forward with his life. His sweet and loving nature has made his new parents fall in love with him more. He is now on a journey of getting his health better and adjusting to a life with his dads.

Hart and his husband didn't even know Oatmilk Latte but they drove for hours just to save him.Their dedication is admirable and heartwarming. They are exactly the kind of parents Oatmilk Latte needed.

The three of them suffered a lost together but their bond with each other is only stronger because of it. We only hope for the best future for Oatmilk Latte and his new family!
