Redditor Discovers Sister's Emotional Abuse Of Son, Immediately Terminates Her Babysitting Role

When someone hires a babysitter, they expect them to take care of their child as if it's their own, or even better. They want to be sure that their child is in good hands and that they can rely on a babysitter for everything.

But that trust can easily be tested as soon as a minor problem arises. If a babysitter handles the situation smoothly, they can relax because they have found a good one, but if not, their search is not over yet.

Recently, a Reddit user explained they hired a babysitter. Their sister was unemployed and offered to babysit their 5-year-old son, so under the influence of her financial difficulties, the OP accepted, believing it would be a way to help her out.

However, an incident caused the OP to question this decision. On a particular day, arriving home unexpectedly early, the OP was met with the distressing scene of their son in tears, attempting to clean his own vomit from the bed.

They learned that the sister had taken the boy to a park and fed him a street hotdog, despite the OP's explicit instructions not to give him street food, for it affects the child's stomach. The boy's following sickness seemed to bother the sister, she was more concerned about the mess than the child's wellbeing.

Instead of assisting the troubled child, she was scolding him for the incident. Feeling protective and upset, the OP immediately intervened, comforted their son, and instructed their sister to leave their home.

Later, the OP called the sister to express their disapproval of her actions. Initially, she sounded remorseful. However, her demeanor shifted to anger when the OP suggested reconsidering the babysitting arrangement.

She brought up her financial hardships, questioning the OP's willingness to worsen her trouble over a single event. Since this confrontation, the two have not communicated.

The sister has been vocal about her feelings regarding the OP's stance. The OP, valuing their son's safety and comfort, is now unsure about trusting their sister with his care and seeks advice on their decision.

Redditors agreed with the OP that they were not in the wrong for firing their sister. She wasn't ready to deal with the complexity of the job.

She made her nephew sick by not following the OP's instructions and even emotionally abused him afterward. Therefore, she can't be trusted anymore, as the OP said.
