If there's one thing you must have come across in social media these days, it's the "yassification" trend that's making rounds on different social platforms. It has gained so much popularity that a lot of memes have already sprouted from the trend.
You have probably seen it all around Twitter, with the account @YassifyBot producing images of celebrities with heavily altered faces made to look like their "most beautiful" versions of themselves. If you are still confused about what the word "yassify" or "yassification" means, it's just slang used to describe applying beauty filters and edits to someone's image using popular editing apps such as FaceApp, Photoshop, or Facetune.
These are usually characterized by airbrushed skin, perfect, on-fleek eyebrows, heavily contoured nose and cheeks, and balayage hair. While this is obviously somehow an ode to how much editing some photos of celebrities undergo before being posted on social media, things took a funny turn when these photos and the terms "yassify" and "yassification" eventually became meme references.
However, it's not only @YassifyBot on Twitter that's been producing beautified photos of celebrities; we have @goddess.women on Instagram as well! The account has now over 378k followers subscribing to her edited photos of famous people if they were to look even more perfect than they already seem to be.
However, some people seem to be responding negatively to this kind of content, saying that it only promotes unhealthy beauty standards in our society. The owner of the Goddess Women project countered this by saying that her main goal is to create art with photo-editing software.

goddess.women“No one needs these filters and skills, but it's amazing what we can create with them. Sometimes, I show before-and-after Photoshop in my stories.”
In an interview with Bored Panda, the artist behind the booming Instagram account explained:
“I started this account in September 2018. I just posted some edits for fun and then I saw how many people liked my work and that motivated me!
I was shocked when celebrities started to notice my page. To be honest, I never expected to get so much attention.”
She also said:
“I think that people are obsessed to look perfect because of the followers and likes they get with their ‘perfection.’ It's sad, but you get a lot more attention on social media when you look good.
I just wanna say to all the girls and boys be yourself. You are beautiful the way you are! And I wanna thank all my followers for supporting my work, I love y'all so much!”

goddess.womenYou can't deny that even without the filter, they still look beautiful as ever! It's really ideal to take these photos with a grain of salt and see them as nothing more than just edited photos of celebrities with a much fancier makeup, or as we call it, a "yassified version" of them.
