First dates will always be nerve-wracking for people. And celebs are no exception.

It's an event where both parties make it their goal to make the best impression. You want to look gorgeous, cool, and intelligent.

At the same time, you want to turn that charm on so that the first date will look effortless. And even after the first date, the dates that follow can induce anxiety because people aren't sure if the person they're dating is "the one."

According to experts, feeling those nerves is normal for every person. But there is one major reason why people get so nervous about such an event.

Matthew Huffsey, a British life coach and dating expert, revealed that feeling those nerves stem from thinking further ahead about someone you may or may not be compatible with. Before and during the moment, people start questioning themselves.

Because I've gone way into the future as if the castle's already been built, when actually all it is is a fantasy set of blueprints.

Today, we're looking at the first date stories of our beloved Hollywood celebrities. Some hit it off right from the start.

Others weren't too successful with their first dates. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two about how first dates go well and go bad.

First dates can be completely unpredictable, even for celebs.

They can be a hit or miss. And most of the time, it's not anybody's fault.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were totally compatible.

In March 2020, Turner had an interview with Elle magazine. A movie producer who lived close to the Jonas family mentioned that she and Joe would get along well.

Just after that conversation, she met Joe's agent, who told her the same thing. Later, Joe sent her a DM to ask her out.

Initially, she was worried that Joe would either be a jerk or a catfish. But it wasn't as she expected.

The two hit it off quickly when they hung out in a Camden bar with friends.

The lunch-and-movie date of Barack and Michelle Obama was cute.

Barack asked Michelle plenty of times before she said yes. They had a great lunch and watched Do the Right Thing.

[Barack] showed all the sides. He was hip, cutting-edge, cultural, sensitive, ... patient.

For Viola Davis, everything went well on her first date with Julius Tennon, her husband.

The first date of George Clooney and his wife Amal happened at Abbey Road Studios. It was a recording session.

George was unsure if Amal had feelings for him. But it was at the recording studio that he discovered that the feeling is mutual.

It was a bad double date for Paul Rudd when his joke didn't work.

He and his friend realized that the girls they dated weren't into them. They ultimately decided to joke with each other, which ended up being a bad idea.

When [I was] driving home, I thought it would be really funny if ... I just stepped out and started running alongside the car. And as [my date] was talking, I just stepped out of my car to run, and I hit the pavement so hard, and I felt the tire kind of swoosh past my head.

Kelly Clarkson's date had an issue with their height difference, so she ultimately ditched him.

Clarkson withstood an hour of hearing the guy talk about their height difference. She went to the bathroom and finally left the guy.

Charlize Theron's first date became a disaster when the guy told her to make out with his nose. Uh oh.

Jimmy Fallon never realized that the day he hung out with Nicole Kidman was actually a first date.

Rick, a mutual friend of Fallon and Kidman, called Fallon telling him that Kidman wanted to meet up as there was a possibility that he'd play a role in her Bewitched movie remake. He thought it was a business meeting.

But when Fallon interviewed Kidman, she admitted that she thought it was a date set up for them.

You wouldn't talk. You didn't say anything ... and then you put a video game on or something.
