The Howarth family has three cats: Bruce, Bree, and Tess. The two girls were adopted three years ago and have already gotten used to living with a family and the house rules. Bruce, however, arrived a short while ago and still has a lot to learn… He is only 10-months old and loves getting into trouble.
“He is boisterous and hyper, but he still loves a good cuddle,” Gemma Howarth, Bruce’s mom, says.
Gemma’s son was celebrating his ninth birthday, and she and her partner got him a unique custom cake. It was the first professional-made cake they’d ever bought, and they were all very excited about it. Bruce especially.
Gemma HowarthUnfortunately, the family left the wonderful cake unattended. It had the lid on, so they felt nothing could happen to it. However, they were shocked the following day when they discovered that someone managed to get in. Almost half of the frosting was gone.
At first, the mom was upset because she was looking forward to this cake. She dreaded the moment she would have to tell her son that it was ruined. Fortunately, the little boy started to laugh when he heard what happened. Now that they all had a good laugh, it was time to find the culprit.
The lid on the box hadn't been moved at all, so the offender would have to be pretty small to get in. Besides that, other pieces of evidence pointed to young Bruce.
"We had only left it overnight with the lid as our girls had never even knocked anything over, never mind eaten anything they shouldn't," Howarth says. "We knew straight away it was Bruce because of this, and his bright blue poop was the biggest hint."
The family called a vet to ask if Bruce could have some issues from eating the frosting. The vet said it's probably nothing and that they should just observe him.
Bruce did destroy the cake, but his family isn't mad at him. They actually found the whole thing amusing. But, of course, they will take care of their cakes better in the future.
