It's time to highlight more working cats, service cats, and cats with jobs. Dogs hog all the limelight but they don't own the titles!
It's no secret that we all like some of our coworkers more than others. Some people you just don't get along with--there's no shame in it, it's okay, but what if rather than a person, one of your coworkers was a very cute cat?
It is also no secret that hospitals can be some of the hardest places to visit. But what if you were greeted at the entrance by a very special security guard?
This Australian hospital was being visited daily by a local cat, so they did what anyone would do: they "hired" the cat and gave him a hospital staff badge as a security guard.
"Security Cat reporting in for duty," is precisely the sort of thing cat fanatics everywhere want more details on, right? We've got this fascinating cat's story right here, right meow.
Meet Elwood
Chantel Trollip (via Bored Panda)This cute lil guy has spent the last year hanging around Epworth Hospital in Richmond, Australia.
Chantel Trollip (via Bored Panda)At first, he was often assumed to be a stray.
Pathologist Chantel Trollip told Bored Panda:
“When I first saw him, he wasn’t wearing anything, so I assumed he was a stray. Then someone put a collar and tag on him and now most recently he’s got his own ID badge, which is identical to our actual staff badges down to the call codes on the back.”

“I first noticed his ID badge on him in June. I was actually having a case of the sads that day, but seeing his ID badge turned my whole mood around!”

Chantel Trollip (via Bored Panda)“He is lovely and friendly, but not overly affectionate. He enjoys a good pat, but likes to keep things short and move around a fair bit. He is on the security team, after all, has to make sure everyone coming and going gets checked,”
Chantel Trollip (via Bored Panda)They discovered Elwood lived across the road from the hospital. Trollip said:
“He’s never really tried to get into the hospital, I think he’s too small to activate the automatic doors anyway. There is a kidney dish from the hospital that someone has turned into a water bowl for him.”
Chantel Trollip (via Bored Panda)What do you think of the hospital's furriest employee?
It would make my day, that's for sure.
