There are a lot of animals on the streets that need our help. Most of the animals found on streets are born strays, but a large percentage of animals became strays because their owners didn’t want them anymore.
We all love animals, right? And we love having pets. Well, the sad truth is that some people love just the idea of having a pet, but when they realize that their pet is a living being and need things like care, love, and walks, they give them away or, even worse- discard them like they are a piece of trash.
No matter how they ended up in the street, these animals need our help. Most of us lead ordinary lives, and it’s not very likely that we will have the opportunity to show heroism. However, rescuing and adopting a poor animal is our chance to be someone’s hero.
It’s hard to measure love, but generally, people who rescue animals say that the bond created that way is incredibly strong. We have collected some of the most beautiful pet adoption stories, and we hope they will inspire you to adopt an animal.

Shmyax007 / pikabu2. “In the morning, I woke up hearing a cat meowing. Btw, I didn’t have a cat. The sound seemed to be coming from the sofa, I cut open the sofa and took out the cat. I don’t know how he got there, but now he is mine!”
Dios666 / pikabu3. “Once, when I got back home from work, I threw a towel on the floor and saw someone’s paw appear from under the bed trying to steal the towel. I decided to keep the cat.”

Dave Phil Mustaine / quora5. “One and a half years ago, a kitten came to my apartment and I kept him. One year later, another kitten came to my apartment — I kept him too. Turned out, it was not a kitten but a pregnant cat who gave birth to 4 more.”
zasranec69 / pikabu6. “We picked up a cat on the street. Later we saw him on the staircase, thought he ran away, and brought him back home. Our first cat was at home waiting for us. We kept the second cat with us too.”
bakersdozzen / pikabu7. “I was standing on my balcony and a cat jumped on it. I rubbed his head and then went around to my neighbors looking for his owner. No one recognized him.”

Vance Harris / quora9. “This cat had been adopted several times and returned, so it was decided to euthanize him. His story was featured on the radio in town and 3 friends of mine called me right after it! I couldn’t ignore this sign.”
Geoffrey Brickley / quora10. “After work, we found a kitten under our car. Our hearts were touched and now he is a new locksmith in our brigade.”
Alexandro1977 / pikabu11. “I had a fight with my husband so I did what any other woman would do — I went shopping. I accidentally turned up at a cat exhibition. Suddenly one of them started to howl and scratch the glass. 5 minutes later, we were on our way home.”
Natalie Lee / quoraThe stories about cats saved from horrible living conditions, and even euthanasia are truly inspiring. It's our duty to help living creatures around us. We claim that we are part of nature, so it's about time to start acting like one.
Besides saving poor animals from the streets, you should also raise awareness in your surroundings. Having a pet is not just about fun. They require care and are not there just to amuse us. We can't put them away in the closet when we are bored.
If someone from your surroundings is considering getting a pet but isn't considering the responsibilities that come with the role of a pet owner, do your best to explain what they are.
