When you think of Canadian celebrities, you would initially think of Celine Dion or Justin Bieber, and of course, they aren't really exempted from the jokes we make to America's neighbor in the north. But Hollywood's full of them—Americans and Canadians, alike, and although there's a fine line between them, many people are still having a hard time distinguishing one from the other (and yep, including us).
Hollywood aspirants on both sides of the spectrum have something in common, and that is to make it big. Like Americans, when a Canadian dreamer wants to have their talents exposed in Hollywood, they most often go to Los Angeles or New York City to find some opportunities that will make them have a big break, leaving their hometown behind in a journey toward fame and success.
There are already a lot of Canadian celebrities who seem...well, Canadian, and there are ones that you would be surprised that they actually belong to the long list of people who love hockey and maple syrup (yeah, these are stereotypes, but you get the point)! It's not really that odd, though, since Canadians and Americans still have a lot in common, and it's fairly easy for them to seamlessly blend in with the latter without fail.
You may already know that Drake is Canadian since he starred in the Canadian series Degrassi. And you might have concluded that Shawn Mendes is Canadian just by hearing him talk and seeing how he acts in real life.
That being said, it still comes off as a shock when some celebrities we thought to be Americans for so long are actually Canadian. Because, well, let's face it, even if the two are similar, there's just this whole other vibe that we get from Canadians that no other citizen from other places could replicate.
Now, without further ado, here are some other celebrities you may have not known that actually came from the "Great White North," and proudly so!

Amy Sussman / Getty ImagesIt's safe to say that Canada really has a lot to offer and despite the multitude of stereotypes thrown at them (all in good humor, of course), they really have the best people in there. After all, Canadians aren't known to be polite (and their excessive apologizing) for nothing!
But even if some of their stereotypes aren't even half-true, there's one thing for sure: Canada is full of talented people and the celebrities you just scrolled through are just some of the testaments for it. Who is your favorite Canadian celebrity?
