Besides being a name of an awesome movie, the term Butterfly Effect also depicts a situation where a butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the planet can cause a tornado on the other side. How very convenient that Edward Lorenz, who created this metaphorical example, had the movie to give him an idea for the effect's name.

Yes, we realize that it's probably the other way around, but the movie is still great. And so is the idea that something so minute can have such significant consequences in another place or another time.

This theory is very mysterious and enticing, and a Reddit thread that investigates the butterfly effect is the best proof. After one user asked fellow Redditors, "What's the craziest butterfly effect that happened to you because of a small decision you made?", answers came pouring.

With almost 70k likes, the thread blew up, and there are some fascinating stories there. We have selected 30 of the best, and we have to say that our view of the world completely changed while we were choosing.

Take a look and see for yourself. You will never look at the butterfly with the same eyes again. Trust us...

We all have examples of butterfly effects everywhere around us. We bet that if you think really hard, you could find some of them even in your life.

In all fairness, it’s hard to notice the effect initiators because they are so small and seem insignificant. But they have immense consequences. And we can catch them.

The bottom line is that our lives are determined by our choices, and each of them starts a sequence of events. Where do these sequences lead? Who knows?

But maybe reading this article stops you from going out while there is a meteor whooshing to a place you were supposed to be right now.
