A victim of bullying was recently faced with a difficult decision. Pressed for a choice, she turned to Reddit for advice and clarity.

Her sister's best friend died not too long ago. She asked them to attend the funeral with her for support.

The problem is her sister's best friend used to be OP's bully. The bullying made OP see her sister in a different light.

This was heartbreaking, given that they used to have such a close relationship. The best friend taunted OP for her looks, for going through puberty early, and for everything else that heightened OP's insecurity.

Their parents hated that their older daughter remained friends with their daughter's bully, but it changed nothing. Her sister said her best friend was never mean to her and that she was the most important person in her life.

Their parents controlled one thing they could and banned the sister's best friend from their home. OP's sister kept hanging out with the bully anyway, wherever she could.

Meanwhile, her bullying only escalated. OP had to transfer schools to avoid her, but that didn't really change anything.

The news of her best friend's death left OP's sister inconsolable. OP felt no grief for her bully and was relieved by the news of her passing.

This meant that they would never have to cross paths ever again. Her sister could no longer force them to interact.

She did want OP to attend the funeral. Her sister accused OP of being a terrible person for holding onto her grudge.

Their parents agreed to attend the funeral, but OP chose to stay home with her older brother who will come home from university to keep OP company.
