Owning cats may require work, but the benefits make all the effort worthwhile. Even science has proven that these lovely furballs have healing and relaxing effects on humans.

Cats are walking stress relievers. And what makes them amazing is they soothe us by just being themselves.

After a long day, chilling on the sofa with a furball resting on your lap makes your body produce hormones for reducing stress. As this happens, your blood pressure and heart rate decrease, leading to normalized anxiety levels.

Having a cat also creates a feeling of companionship. If you live alone, a feline friend gives you a sense of purpose and lessens the feeling of loneliness.

So it's no surprise that this Redditor wanted one for herself. But someone in her family, sadly, is criticizing her for planning to get a cat.

User Melodic-Bluebird2472 posted on Reddit about her brother's issue with her adopting a cat. She tells the community that she doesn't know anyone in the town except for her boyfriend, so it can get lonely.

So she decided to adopt a cat she bonded with at a shelter. But her brother is stopping her from doing it because their family is allergic to cats.
