Sheraton has pretty impressive protocols.
No matter how much we admire the creativity of those who break the rules and move forward, it is impossible to succeed without a well-functioning set of laws and patterns. Rules simplify our lives, no matter how strange that may sound.
The fewer unpredictable situations we face, the easier life is. The bigger the playbook of our team, the better our chances of winning.
Likewise, the more comprehensive the medical protocol list of an institution we visit, the better protected we are. Recently, a TikTok user @pompouswomp shared a video about the impressive medical protocol list of a Sheraton hotel, which has gained over 1.5M views, 100K likes, and 850 comments.
Clearly, this situation deserves to be looked into further. After Georgina checked into the hotel, her relative discovered a bug in the bed.
Initially, Georgina was not certain of what it was, but someone more knowledgeable in insects confirmed it to be a bedbug. It was in the middle of the night, but the hotel staff arrived quickly, and their protocol was put into action.
The poor bedbug was initially secured and placed in a jar to be brought to the research facility for inspection. All of the visitors were provided with hotel robes, and their clothes and possessions were gathered in specialized hazardous waste bags and sent off to be disinfected.
However, the guests themselves may have introduced the bug, as there could have been a couple of other malicious parasites hidden in their garments. Read the rest of the story below:
“The hotel staff did the right thing in this situation,” says Olga Shykina, a PhD and associate professor at the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business at the Odessa National Economic University' “It is not necessarily true, by the way, that the bedbug was in the room from the beginning – it could have been brought there by one of the guests from the road. But in any case, the health and safety of hotel guests is above all.”
“Complete disinfection of the whole room, another room for guests, and sanitization of their clothes at the expense of the host – all these steps indicate a high level of service at the hotel. Even when the next morning they did not have time to bring their clothes from the dry cleaner, the staff also behaved quite correctly, providing a free breakfast in return. A reaction worthy of a good review,” Olga Shykina notes.
Some people have expressed that most hotels have similar procedures for dealing with health issues, but some employees fail to adhere to them. Commenters say that hotels do not always prioritize the health of their guests, with one individual recounting how a bedbug bit them, but the hotel representative simply accused them of lying, despite them being highly allergic.
To avoid this, it is suggested that one should always inspect the room before unpacking, as the hotel staff may not always be so helpful.
