Endearing Moment Baby Elephant Goes Into River To Save Her Caretaker Whom She Thought Was "Drowning"

Swimming is not only enjoyable; it’s also a fantastic way to stay active, stay healthy, and meet new people. Also, there’s nothing like entering the pool and letting the waters soothe your skin, especially if it’s a sunny day. 

You can engage in swimming as a healthy activity for the rest of your life. It is a low-impact activity with numerous advantages for both physical and mental health.

Sometimes we even swim with our pets, and it makes it all the more fun. But in this case, the elephant was afraid of her caretaker and she had to save him. 

This cute scene shows a baby elephant jumping into a river to save her best friend, who she thought was drowning. The touching event took place at the Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for elephants in Thailand, and it was documented on video. 

In this beautiful camera footage, Kham Lha, a 5-year-old elephant, is seen rushing to save her keeper, Darrick Thomson, who is 24 years of age. The man was swimming in the river, but the compassionate elephant believes her favorite person is actually in serious difficulty, so she leaps into the water and rushes towards Darrick to rescue him. 

The man obviously doesn't require saving, but it is still amazing to see how sweet this baby elephant is!

"I went in the river to show just how remarkable the relationship with humans is," Darrick, originally from Canada, said. "And that if you show warmth and kindness to them, they will treat you well, too." 

The kind-hearted elephant, Kham Lha, had a very difficult history and was brought to the sanctuary with the other 18 rescued elephants.

The cute animals were made to carry tourists on their backs or perform tricks for amusement on the streets of Thailand. Thankfully, though, the cruelty was put an end to, and they may now live peacefully once more. 

According to the caretaker, Kham Lha first arrived to them in a terrible state.

"She had been tied up and forced to undergo tough training known as crushing to prepare her to work in the tourist industry. We freed her and helped her to recover. She became really close to me."

Now they share an incredible bond, and as the video proved, Kham Lha doesn’t want her friend to ever get hurt

When Kham Lha first arrived, she was only four years old. She quickly made friends with a staff member named Darrick, who took care of her as if she were his own child.

They now have a remarkable friendship, and the video demonstrated Kham Lha's desire for her companion to never experience hurt. That's just wonderful.
