Avatar 2 – We Now Know The Plot, Cast, And The Release Date, But Also Why Are The Fans Concerned

Avatar, the epic CGI science fiction movie was released back in 2009, and ever since, the fans are waiting for the sequel of this James Cameron’s blockbuster. Although it looked like it will be a solo movie, Cameron raised some dust by announcing not one, but four sequels.

The story of the second movie is set 12 years after the events in Avatar. Jake Sully now has a family with Neytiri, and they are advancing through the enormous world of Pandora, making new allies and preparing for the R.D.A. invasion, which is inevitable.

They are coming back to finish what they’ve started.

Director James Cameron said that the sequels had to wait for the development of the technology that allows the actors to perform underwater.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will reenact their roles from the first movie. Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang will also be back, even though both their characters didn’t make it in the first movie.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, C.C.H. Pounder, and Matt Gerald are all reenacting their roles from the original film, but Sigourney Weaver will be returning in a different role. Some of the new cast members are Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones.

Fans are concerned that Avatar 2 may not be as successful as the original. A recent case of Blade Runner 2049 that was a box office disappointment shows that waiting too long between sequels may not be a good idea. Also, Avatar was released before the Marvel Cinematic Universe success, so it is up against some fierce competition now. However, Cameron doesn’t seem to be concerned and thinks Avatar 2 will do great.

Avatar 2 is scheduled for release on December 17, 2020.
